Focused on promoting Design made in Germany, Fashion Council Germany (FCG) was founded in 2015 to strengthen the visibility of brands and designers within its home country and abroad.

Through various programmes, seminars, workshops and pop up events, the Fashion Council Germany provides and supports young companies with its wide industry knowledge and network. The FCG consists of four key pillars: awareness, business, education and fashion tech.

“Since the founding of the Fashion Council Germany, sustainability has been one of the main pillars in the area of education, because the topic is no longer a niche or marketing argument. Rather, it is a prerequisite for a promising business model in a globally active market. In the two-year promotional programme, we would like to use multi-stage coaching along the value chain to enable the participants to establish themselves successfully and internationally competitively on the market in the long term. For a future in which sustainability will clearly determine the everyday life of the fashion industry,” explains Mandie Bienek, Member of the Board, Fashion Council Germany.

Through various programmes, seminars, workshops and pop up events, the FCG provides and supports young companies with its wide industry knowledge and network.

2019 saw the start the FCG German Sustain Concept (GSC), a new support programme that champions brands who are fully committed to being sustainable. Official partners of the programme include Bikini Berlin, Burdastyle and Neonyt.

Ten finalists were chosen to present their brands and concepts a jury of industry experts, with consultants, editors and journalists from well-respected German institutes and publications making the final decision.

From the finalists, four participants were chosen and will receive mentorship in sourcing, distribution, marketing and business. The GSC participants who will benefit from 24 months of coaching, are Lara Krude, Oft, Phylyda and Working Title.

Through group workshops and one-on-one mentoring sessions, the programme aims to develop their business models, giving the young brands the best chance of success in the future whilst keeping sustainability at the core of their company.

Each of the workshops are tailored to meet their individual needs allowing them to put it into practice immediately. Advice is given to the participants as well as the opportunity of networking and the possibility of presenting their collections.

The German Sustain Concept hopes to establish the brands and designers in the German market and set create as much potential for long term growth as possible. Lara Krude, Oft, Phylyda and Working Title will all be given the opportunity to implement everything they have learned through the GSC up until January 2021.
